ARTICLE (PERSONAL)

1. Catalan uses articles in front of personal names, such as Portuguese, but unlike the second language, Catalan possesses its own articles for this purpose, foremost in spoken Catalan:

MASC.
en      is the general form of the article
n’       is the only option when the next word begins with a vowel or a silent <h->
FEMININE
                   na      is the general form
n’         is used just when the next word begins with <a->, or with stressed  <i-> o <u->; but in case they are unstressed, the apostrophe is not used.

2. They just exist in the singular. Anyway, it is possible to use definite articles instead of personal ones.

3. Examples

en Joan
John
n’Albert
Albert
na Maria
Mary
n’Aina
Aina

2. All of them are equivalent to English the. Articles keep agreement with the noun from which they depend.
