WORD CLASS: NUMERALS

1. Numerals, as their noun says, refer to numbers in several different ways. The two main classes of them are cardinal and ordinal numbers.

2. Cardinal numbers in Catalan are as follows:

2.1. Numerals un ~ una and dos ~ dues have both masculine and feminine endings.

2.2. As for u, it is used as a noun and a pronoun, while un is both an article and a numeral.

2.3. There are some cases of gender inflection regarding cardinal numbers:

3. Ordinal numbers in Catalan follow a regular pattern. Except for the five four first numbers, all the rest are formed by adding –è / –ena to the cardinal.
