SPELLING: DIGRAPHS

1. A diagraph is the combination of two letters reproducing a single phoneme. Catalan uses a whole set of them, whose phonological values are as follows:

2. The digraph <qu> perform /k/ only when followed by <e> or <i>; otherwise, <u> is pronounced, normally performed as /w/:
